The RIT Archives collects, organizes, preserves and displays materials from the Institute's past. Located on the third floor of Wallace Library, it is housed in an environment that is temperature and humidity controlled for the preservation of paper and photographs. It forms the primary source for the study of the history and development of the Institute. The archives is open to anyone who wishes to use the collections.
Collection highlights include RIT presidential papers, posters of events from 1901 to the present, student newspapers and yearbooks, institute publications, and memorabilia, including a hockey stick from RIT's first division championship in 1983, and a cap worn by a Domestic Science student in the first decade of the twentieth century. There are over 10,000 historical and contemporary photographs, documenting students, classes and the campus from 1900 to the present.
