Briggs Place is one of the roads in the NTID Complex. It is named in honor of William H. Briggs, a trustee from 1895-1927. He was the first vice president of the board from 1910-1923. He also served as Chairman of the committee to purchase works of art from 1910-1927.

William Briggs' son, Theodore C. Briggs, succeeded him on the RIT Board in 1927. Since 1963, he has been an honorary trustee. In 1967, and again in 1972, he received a Distinguished Service Award in recognition for his years of service to the board. He has made significant contributions to the Institute's growth through his membership on the Executive Committee (1945-1961), and as a member of the Nominating and New Campus Education committees.
