Lowenthal Road

Lowenthal Road is one of the main entrances from Jefferson Road into the campus.It is named in honor of Max Lowenthal, who was one of the original founders and trustees of the Mechanics Institute.

Wiltsie Drive

Charles H. Wiltsie was a co-founder of the Mechanics Institute and a member of the Board of Trustees for 43 years. He was a prominent lawyer in Rochester during the late 1800's. Mr. Wiltsie also served as Editor of the Institute's first publication, The Athenaeum.

In 1892, he established the annual Wiltsie Watercolor Prize, which recognized exceptional student artwork.
